About this guide

A simple, up-to-date list of places in Cape Town where dogs are welcome.

Each place is checked against the City of Cape Town's beach rules, SANParks and recent published guides. The date we last checked it is shown on its page.

Know before you go

• Many beaches ban dogs from 09:00 to 18:00, November to March.
• Tidal pools never allow dogs, even on dog-friendly beaches.
• Walking dogs in Table Mountain National Park (Noordhoek Beach, Tokai, Silvermine, Newlands Forest) needs a SANParks My Activity permit.
• Penguin areas (Boulders, Seaforth) ban dogs.
• Always carry poop bags. It's a City by-law.
